The Association of General Contractors reports that construction spending shuffled upward 0.2 percent in the month of June. Most of the largest increase were in the manufacturing, power, commercial and health care construction areas. the pivotal driving force appears to be in private nonresidential construction, which increased 1.8 percent in spending.

Speaking of medical facilities, D’Agostino Cos. has started construction on College Park Medical Plaza, located at 3117 College Park Drive. Adjacent to St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, the facility will be a two stories with approximately 30,000 square feet. Leasing already has started for the facility, to be completed in early 2012.

Next door to this is a 4,000-square-foot Panera Bread restaurant, complete with patio dining area and drive-through service, that will be constructed. Opening of this popular restaurant is scheduled for December 2011.

Black Forest Ventures recently declared full occupancy of the recently completed four-story structure in Black Forest Park Development at 4526 Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands. Occupants in the 70,000-square-foot building include Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen, Crane Energy, DKI Consulting, EnergyQuest, and Afton Chemical.

Grocery stores have long been a determining factor in the success of shopping centers. The H-E-B Woodlands Market at 9595 Six Pines Drive has just completed a major three-month renovation. This 76,000-square-foot store was built in 2004 in the Market Street development. Just a few changes “include an expanded wine department, a new cheese island, an expanded sushi bar and a fresh fruit and juice bar.

The city of Montgomery is excited that the Montgomery Opry had its debut of country music variety show Saturday. This should really bring a new twist to historical Montgomery’s first Saturday Farmers Market. The Historic Montgomery Business Association hosts the event, which features a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, eggs, plants, honey, farm products turned into baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles and salsas, along with homemade wares produced by local artisans. Check it out for leisurely fun.

D’Agostino Co. has broken ground on a 30,000-square-foot medical office building in The Woodlands called College Park Medical Plaza.

The project is located at 3117 College Park Drive, adjacent to the St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital. Occupancy is expected by the first quarter 2012.

College Park Medical Plaza was designed by Houston-based Browne McGregor Architects, and is being constructed by Metzger Construction Co. of Houston. Tim Maczko with J. Beard Co. LLC of The Woodlands has been hired to find tenants for the project.

Simultaneously, Conroe-based D’Agostino is developing a 4,000-square-foot College Park Panera Bread at 3313 College Park Drive. The restaurant is expected to open in December.

Recently, D’Agostino Companies has started development of College Park Medical Plaza, located at 3117 College Park Dr. adjacent to the St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital in The Woodlands, TX.

The 30,000-square-foot, two-story Class A medical office building is projected for occupancy by the first quarter of 2012 and will offer its medical office tenants excellent access to retail, residential areas, and other medical facilities of The Woodlands area, according to Bryan D’Agostino, partner and chief operating officer of the development company D’Agostino Companies.

College Park Medical Plaza was designed by Browne McGregor Architects is being built by Metzger Construction.
